Has the B Corp Movement Made a Difference?

Updated: May 5, 2020

More than 1,100 Certified B Corporations now established across 80 industries and 35 countries, including Afghanistan, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Kenya, and Mongolia.

According to Ryan Honeyman the B corp movement has made a difference in the following areas:

1. Attracting talent and engaging employees. Certified B Corporation can unleash the passion, initiative, and imagination of employees by connecting them with the larger purpose behind their work.

2. Increase consumer trust. Consumers increasingly assert that they do not want to buy a green product from a company that has a poor overall social and environmental record. Many B Corporations have said that certification has helped them build a deeper, more loyal fan base.

3. Benchmarking and improving performance. The B Impact Assessment helps measure, compare, and optimize multiple variables in order to deliver a better result for society and the environment.

4. Protecting a company’s mission for the long term. By incorporating as a benefit corporation, entrepreneurs can help protect their mission by elevating their company’s core social and environmental values to the status of law.

5. Building a collective voice. The B Corporation amplies the voice of this diverse marketplace through the power of a unifying brand.
